On December 12, 2009, Members of Troop 73 attempted to have their first camping experience. The Great Scoutmaster also decided that he will make this camp out a test of sorts for the boys to see how they could endure.
At this point we decided to do final checks and get ready for bed when we found out that the ground had 2 inches of water on the entire field and we had about another inch inside the tents with the Water still rising. With one of the boys still recovering from an illness he decided that he didn't need a relapse and called tor a ride to go home. After he left we took a census and only 1 boy wanted to stay and fight the Great Scoutmaster and showed him who the better scout was. Well with only one Scout that was going to stay and a flooded camp site, It was decided that we would abandon this camp site and the trip for another time (January maybe) and spend more time getting better prepared. Except for the flooding and soaking all the campers received, The camping attempt was a good success for the most part as we had a little fun telling stories and the experiences we had. We do believe that next time we will prevail and show the Great Scoutmaster that while he may control the weather, He can't beat the Scout Spirit. Patrick Adams |

The day started with a light drizzle as we set up camp. We had even managed to get a camp fire going to do our cooking on. Well the 1st tent got soaked (with all the gear inside) when it started to pour, so we set up a second tent. For a while all was ok until about 5pm (and near dinner time) when the winds came in (And heavier rain toboot). and blew our Dining canopy over. This happened 3 times this evening. By 6pm our dinner of Chicken soup was done. The soup was great if the weather wasn't. Just as we were getting done (and after some great stories) we were about to start getting into some S'mores when a big gust of wind came in a flipped the dining canopy over everyone and gave us all a good soaking.
