Upward Soccer has begun at Glynlea Grace UMC! Tonight (August 3, 2010) was the first practice. The following is Pam Reed's wonderful report. What an awesome sight to behold! There, on what has been an empty field for so many years, tonite were 4 teams of players (about 30 children) ages 4 through 7 learning soccer and about 30 sets of parents watching their children have fun! Tomorrow there will be 2 teams and on Thursday another 4 teams practicing. The cutest sight was watching the 4/5 year olds follow Miss Trisha through their drills and follow her around like little ducklings while Mr. Leo ran to retrieve his cones from 2 little children who kept gathering them up instead of running through them! Parents socialized and got to know one another while some strolled down by the Pottsburg Creek and sat at the picnic tables. Parents asked if we will have concessions stands (yes, at the games), can we place garbage cans by the fields (yes as soon as we buy some and anchor them), can we get bleachers (not this year) and all asked for some shade!! We are now between 64-67 players comprising 10 teams! Woohoo! God has surely blessed this ministry! Pam |
