Scripture: Mark 6:1-6 and Luke 7:1-10
Normally, when we read stories about Jesus, the people are amazed at his teachings and miracles. In these two stories, however, it is Jesus who is amazed at the people. In the first story (Mark 6:1-6) Jesus is amazed at the people’s lack of faith. In the second story (Luke 7:1-10) he is amazed at the centurion’s great faith. How do we amaze Jesus? Do we amaze him by stepping out on faith to proclaim the good news and serve others in his name? Or do we amaze him by remaining safe in our secure comfort zones? I hope we amaze Jesus in the right way. It may mean sacrifice and risk but it’s the only way to follow him.
