Scripture
John 5:19-20 Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing; for whatever he does, that the Son does likewise. 20 For the Father loves the Son, and shows him all that he himself is doing; and greater works than these will he show him, that you may marvel. Summary and Function Summary: My 3 year old son always wants to join me and my wife in what ever we’re doing. He notices that I’m cooking dinner and wants to participate. He loves to help his mom do laundry. He sees me trying to fix something and insists on helping. He has an intense desire to join me and my wife in what ever we are doing. We should have the same intense desire to join God in His work. God is working to draw people into a relationship with Him. He’s doing this because He loves us and wants a personal relationship with everyone. Salvation is offered to all people. God is working to offer salvation to all people. Just like my 3 year old son, we, as followers of Christ, should have the intense desire to join God in His work. God invites us to join Him. What specific type of work is He inviting you to do as His co-laborer? Purpose: To encourage the congregation to seek ways to join God in His work to offer salvation to all people. The Sermon
I. Introduction: My 3 year old son’s intense desire to join me and my wife in what ever
we’re doing.
1. He notices that I’m cooking dinner and wants to participate. 2. He loves to help his mom do laundry. 3. He sees me trying to fix something and insists on helping 4. We should have this same type of desire to join God in his work II. God’s work 1. God is working to draw people to him in order to have a personal relationship with
him
2. God is working to offer all people the opportunity for salvation 3. Consider the following:
III. The many ways to join God in His work 1. Every opportunity we have to share our faith with another person 2. Every opportunity we have to serve or help another in the name of Jesus 3. Various ministries within and outside the local church IV. We should ask ourselves: What specific type of work is God inviting us to do as His
co-laborers?
1. We will hear testimonies from 2-3 people. They’ll discuss how God has worked
in their lives and how they were able to come in line with God’s will.
2. As you listen to their testimonies, ask: “What specific type of work is God inviting
me to do as His co-laborer?” This will help you to fall more in line with God’s will.
